BOOTFEST FESTIVAL
DSCF1890
We arrived at the Bootfest Festival site with its perimiter fence, security guards, food and drinks marquees and its fantastic stage. John Parr was on stage doing a sound check, stage managers were milling about, sound technicians were side stage and in the sound marquee, the lighting system was all in place, the only thing missing was a decent crowd. For such a well put together Festival the attendance was a little dissapointing.
With all our gear in place, amps and drums miked up to the 20,000 watt P.A system we went on stage at 2o'clock for our 1 hour slot. The 38 foot stage was great to play on and the" on stage" sound was fantastic, all in all a great experience, a big thank you to organiser Les Thompson for inviting us.
All our gear was quickly packed up and then we were straight over to Otley to rather a smaller gig at Otley Rugby Union Club and finally arriving home at half past one Sunday morning, rock and roll!
I will publish photos as and when they are sent in.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!
page10_3We kicked off the weekend at Maguires on Saturday after our 3 week holiday break and we were rarin to go. I dont know if it was the fact that Maguires was not as full as on previous visits combined with us being ring rusty but the night seemed a little flat to us even though everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. All the usual suspects were there but a special mention to Chris Diane Sim Linda Judith Julie Boz Emma Tommy Alex Dave and Shirley for clocking up the miles coming to see us. A big thanks to Gill for volunteering to do the raffle you're a star.
Next day saw us at a new venue The 3 Horse Shoes in Headingley and what a contrast to the day before. We knew we had "got" the packed audience from the very first song, the atmosphere was electric and we were playing our socks off, its great to look out over a crowd to see everyone singing the words to every song. After a short interval we were back on, our shirts came off, and off we went again picking up the momentum from the first set, what an enjoyable gig this was turning out to be and in what seemed like no time at all we were playing our last song only to be cheered back on for 6 encores, this was gigging at its best. To win over a crowd at a new venue, play bloody good and be asked to come back by a brilliant and generous landlord and land lady finished the weekend nicely. Not many times that a Landlord helps carry out the band gear and then gets the drinks in till half one in the morning, top man.
