ONE HELL OF A WEEKEND
09/07/07 14:49
The Fox is always a good venue for us but this time we were really worried that playing on the same day as the Thorpe Willoughby festival would dwindle our audience but things turned out ok with us still playing to a full pub with only a few of the familiar local faces missing. Once again a big Thanks to everyone that travelled to see us from Leeds and to a surprise turn out from The Broadway crowd.
We started the first of our 4 sets at half past nine, finally finishing at half past one with everyone cheering us on to our record breaking 53 songs.
This was one hell of a tiring but enjoyable night and it was great to see landlord Craig dancing and singing along and all the locals up dancing on the tables and chairs, a fantastic sight when you are up on stage playing. After packing everything up each of us got home just after 3 o'clock, with the thought that we were going to have to do it all over again 14 hours later at The Lion at Castleford.

A QUIET LION
09/07/07 13:49

Tired and weiry from the previous night at The Fox, we rolled into The Lion at Castleford for a 5 o'clock start. We had been warned that "the strip" had been really quiet over the last few Sundays and today didn't seem like it was going to be any different. With so few people in we decided against putting up the light show relying on the system that is installed in the pub. By a quarter to 5 five our faithfull travelling support had turned up to at least give us a reasonable audience to play to, a special thanks to Chris ,Diane ,Boz, Sim ,Linda ,Julie ,Sharon Shirley and Dave who turned up after seeing us only 14 hours earlier at The Fox. A big swig each on Jasons bottle of rum and we were fired up for our early start. Thanks to Mal for sorting out the Lions lights for us,top man. Even though the pub wasn't exactly bursting at the seams we treat it like any other, attracting a few locals to stop in and listen. This is a pub that goes out of its way to keep music live so we were a bit dissapointed in the attendance but never the less we got up and enjoyed our selves and hopefully everyone there did too.
Next gig is the Boot and Shoe at Ackworth (Fri 13th July) Oh no did I just say Friday the 13th.
Hope ya can make it to this top pub.

MINERS MADNESS
03/07/07 11:35
What a mad night it turned out to be at The Miners Arms on Saturday night playing to a big crowd till 1 o'clock in the morning and being asked to do 15 encores, we really enjoyed it but were totally knackered by the end. Thanks to everyone who turned up to make this a great evening once again, all the usual suspects were there but also a lot of new faces who I hope we convinced to come and see us again. Owner of The Miners, Ian was his usual generous self by donating 3 bottles of wine for the raffle and for inviting us back on stage 4 times when we were knackered, top man.
Nice to see Barry and Ann back on stage for a couple of numbers before they leave for a life abroad, Country Girl just seemed to get the whole pub up on its feet and up dancing on the tables. All in all just another great night at The Miners.
