THE WHITE HART – BEESTON -NEW LIVE MUSIC VENUE

The White Hart in Beeston is to start putting on live music and Styckleback will be playing there on Saturday 14th August to kickstart what hopefully will become another top venue. It would be great to see all our loyal fans make a special effort to get down to this one to make the opening night a great success.

ANOTHER 3 GIG WEEKEND!

Our 3 gig weekend starts onFriday night with a return visit The Coniston in Bradford where on previous visits have been mega gigs with plenty of support from a good Bradford crowd. The following day we head out to Selby to play The Fox at Thorpe Willoughby which in the past has seen us play mega long sets to some of the most enthuisiastic crowds that we have ever played to. Our last gig of the weekend is at The Duck and Drake in Leeds which will be a 6.oopm start, this is probably the smallest venue we play but the atmosphere in here is bloody fantastic! Hope to see you down at one of the gigs, its going to be a mega weekend!

ANOTHER TRIPLE HEADER!

MAGUIRES (Leeds) Friday 28th May

THE RED LION (Shadwell) Saturday 29th May

THE THREE HORSESHOES (Leeds) Sunday 30th May 9.00pm Start

ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

THE ROSCOE (Friday)

After a 7 week break we were back to gigging again with avengeance starting on Friday at top Leeds venue The Roscoe, playing to a big crowd that had turned out to see our first gig of the weekend . It didnt take long to shake off the cobwebs and get back in to our stride and with our friend Paul Barnett on the sound desk the sound off stage was brilliant. Even though the venue was incredibly hot it didnt stop having a full dance floor for most of the night.

THE TRAVELLERS (Saturday)

Saturday saw us return to The Tavellers in Stanley on a really hot Saturday night and were a bit worried that every one might stay out in the beer garden enjoying the weather but as soon as we went on the crowd came in to see another good Styckleback performance  with plenty of good comments coming our way at the end. A noise curfew meant we had to be off quite early but we  rammed in as many songs as we could which seemed to please  this Wakefield crowd.

THE BLUES BAR (Sunday)

This was our first visit to The Blues Bar in Harrogate for a 3.00 pm start .The attendance was a little dissapointing probably due to the scorching hot day but the people that were there certainly seemed to enjoy the gig. Not the biggest of venues but it has a great atmosphere not disimilar to The Duck and Drake in Leeds. Due to time restrictions we had to be off by 6.00pm which meant the encores had to be cut to one song for a relitively short gig . Thanks to everyone that turned up and for all the good comments.

WE ARE BACK

After a 6 week break Styckleback are back gigging again this weekend with a triple header starting on Friday 21st May at The Roscoe, Saturday 22nd May at The Travellers in Stanley Wakefield and Sunday at The Blues Club in Harrogate. It feels like forever since we last played and we are chomping at the bit to get back on stage and The Roscoe is the perfect place to start and we hope to see many of our loyal supporters down there to join in what promises to be a mega gig.

LAST WEEKENDS GIG REVIEWS

THE ROSCOE  Leeds  Friday 19th March

On Friday we were back at Leeds largest pub venue, The Roscoe, a venue we have played many times and were really pleased that once again the crowds had turned out in force so that we could play to a packed pub and where the dance floor was full from the first song and pretty much remained so for the entire gig. Its always great to play on this big stage, it just gives us so much room to rock out and from the reaction we got I think we delivered the goods.

GARFIELD SPORTS CLUB Saturday 20th March

As was said earlier this was a rare visit into clubland and a really enjoyable experience this was to once again play to a big crowd that at first we thought may be hard to crack but all fears were unfounded when we started, with an attentative audience who were really getting into the music from the front to the back of this large club. Thanks to Wormy from Monkey Dust for lending a hand during the sound check to make sure we got the sound spot on and to the audience that gave us some great comments whatever their age group who really enjoyed our eclectic mix of songs. We will be back!

THE CROSS KEYS  Sunday 21st March

This was a gig that very nearly had to be canceled due to Andy being taken ill during the afternoon but at the eleventh hour ex Styckleback Jason stood in and a great job he did, many thanks. We normally pack out The Keys but this was a bit quiet by comparison, maybe due to the big charity gig the day before,  but nevertheless we went on and gave it 110% and the crowd grew gradually as the night progressed and they made good use of the dance floor. We finished after 2 hours on stage only to be cheered back on for another 20 minutes of encores and it was a relief to get through the gig that earlier we thought would have to be cancelled

YET ANOTHER 3 GIG WEEKEND!

THE NEW ROSCOE in Leeds  Friday 19th March

The New Roscoe needs no introduction as one of Leeds largest music pubs, we have played there so many times its like coming home. Fantastic large stage to really rock out, this really is one not to be missed

THE GARFIELD SPORTS CLUB in Upton Saturday 20th March

Having played ther once before, we were invited back to play on a Saturday night which we are told will be packed out, lets hope so, it will be good to show a good crowd what we are all about

THE CROSS KEYS in Morley Sunday 21st March 7.00pm start

Another great pub with a big stage and the last chance to see us for 6 weeks while Howard jets off to New Zealand, its a 7.00 start, and what better way to end a weekend!

LAST WEEKENDS GIGS REVIEWS:

styckleback-web-4MAGUIRES in Leeds   Friday 12th March

Styckleback made a welcome return to Maguires on Friday night and what a good crowd we attracted with plenty  new and old faces showing there appreciation. Mate and ex Styckleback Jason was depping for Andy and what a great job he did, we even gave some of our older songs an airing which went down really well. Listening to Jason belting out Alright Now was like was turning the clock back a couple of years, great stuff.

THE RAILWAY in Knottingley  Saturday 13th March

This was to be our first visit to this venue and with Styckleback back to full strength with Andys return we were ready to show a new audience what we were all about and the good sized raised stage gave us plenty of room to do just that. With young and not so young singing along we won this audience round and the night just got better and better and it was good to see a some familiar faces that had made the journey from The Fox in Thorpe Willoughby. Even though we started at 9.oopm we  didnt finish until 12.oo so it was another typical long Styckleback set which had customers, Landlord and Landlady giving us some great comments and asking us to return.

THE DUCK and DRAKE in Leeds  Sunday 14th March

Sunday afternoon at The Duck has always been a good gig for us but this turned out to be one of those mega gigs playing to a pub that was packed to the rafters of the most enthuisiastic crowd that we have played to this year, this was just mental. We belted out song after song for the best part of 3 and a half hours and then they still wanted more. I could go on and on about this gig but perhaps some comments on The Rock of the North site sums it up from a spectators point of view.

NEXT GIGS:

MAGUIRES   Leeds,   Friday 12th MARCH

This weekend is another triple header starting on Friday 12th of March at Maguires where ex Styckleback Jason will be standing in for Andy who is working away so expect a couple of the old songs to creep into the set

THE RAILWAY  Knottingley, Saturday 13th MARCH

Our first visit to The Railway and really looking forward to it

THE DUCK AND DRAKE  Leeds  Sunday 14th MARCH 6.00pm start

Always a great gig for us boys at this fantastic pub, this is a 6.00 start so if you want to finish your weekend with a bang get yourselves down to this classic venue

LAST WEEKS GIGS REVIEW

styckleback-web-7THE BROADFIELD   Sheffield

Last weekend was the start of our 9 gigs in 17 days for us starting on Friday at  The Broadfield in Sheffield. This was our second visit to this venue and we were really pleased that a good enthuisiastic crowd had come along, many thanks for your noisy appreciation and great comments you gave us after the gig. This is a great venue from a bands point of view with plenty of stage space to perform in and the warmth of the Sheffield crowd really spurred us on. Delays getting to Sheffield meant not having the time to put up the full light show and the 12 oclock noise curfew seemed to draw the night to an earlier finish than normal but all in all an enjoyable gig in front of a really friendly Sheffield crowd. We will be back on Fri 16th of July with the full light show!

THE FOX   Thorpe Willoughby,Selby

The next day saw us heading out to Selby to the now infamous Fox and the scene of many a three and a half hour set by us. This is our favourite venue and whilst the landlord said it was his busiest night since Christmas, in comparison to many previous visits this was a lower turn out, never the less, the crowd that did come along were in fine form and showing there appreciation in the typical loud Fox manner creating a great atmosphere, with the usual dancing on tables chairs which we have come to associate with this pub. All the new songs went down well and we finally came off stage at 1 oclock in the morning, probably our earliest finish ever here but welcome seeing as the next day we would be back in Leeds to finish off our triple gig weekend

MEANWOOD WMC   Leeds

A rare visit into clubland saw us playing at The Meanwood WMC after being invited to play there by Steve, a Styckleback supporter and commitee member. This is a newly refurbished club which as a fantastic huge stage holding 600 people in its cavernous concert room. The crowd grew as the night went along to produce a good atmosphere and a crowd that showed a lot of vocal support and cheered us on to play far longer than the alloted 2 x 45 minute slots and it turned out to be a really anjoyable gig even though we were getting a bit knackered on ou third day of carrying all that gear in and out, many thanks to the DJ there for giving me a lift in with some of the heavy speakers and mixing desk. A well earned rest now before next weeks triple weekend starting at Maguires in Leeds on Friday 12th of March.
